FR40

France 40 Index (FR40) also known as CAC 40 is a collection of the 40 largest and most actively traded equities listed on Euronext Paris (the France Stock Exchange). The FCHI is a market capitalization weighted index that calculates its components based on the total market value of its outstanding shares. It is the most widely used indicator of the performance of the Paris stock market and France economy. The index was launched on 31st December 1987 with a base value of 1000 and is managed by the Euronext exchange group. The FCHI is reviewed every quarter by an independent Index Steering Committee called the Conseil Scientifique. Any changes made by the review committee are effected after a minimum of two weeks. Just as with all other major indices, economic conditions and major gains in components play a key role in how the France 40 Index fairs. Top companies traded in the FCHI include Total, Sanofi, L'Oreal among others.
