The coronavirus pandemic has led many economies into their worst economic recessions in recent history reshuffling the world’s biggest economies ranking.

Here are the lists with the 10 biggest economies before and after the pandemic (as they appear in the IMF’s World Economic Outlook database and analysed by CNBC by comparing the nominal GDP in US dollars across countries).

The United States, China, Japan and Germany still occupy the top 4 places while some countries changed places on the list and one country fell from the top 10.

India fell one position, from the 5th place to the 6th, and is now behind the U.K. Strict lockdowns were imposed in the country attempting to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Brazil is out of the top 10 as it fell to the 12th place. The country reported the third highest number of coronavirus cases and has the second largest death toll globally as President Jair Bolsonaro refused to impose a national lockdown. South Korea climbed to the 10th place on the list. The country has been somewhat successful in containing the virus in 2020 and has had strong semiconductor exports which boosted the economy to rank higher last year.
