About

EU50

The EURO STOXX 50 Index is a blue-chip representation of Supersector leaders in the Eurozone in terms of free-float market capitalization. It is comprised of fifty of the largest and most liquid stocks from 11 European countries owned by Deutsche Borse, Dow Jones and SWX Group. The EURO STOXX 50 was launched on 26 February 1998 and is reviewed annually in September. The index's weightings are calculated quarterly to account for changes in market caps. As one of the most liquid indices for the Eurozone, the index is licensed to financial institutions as an ideal underlying for investment products like Exchange Traded Funds (ETF), Futures contracts, stock options and structured products around the globe. The EURO STOXX 50 is a popular index for speculative traders thus is used as a trading strategy to speculate on Europe's overall economic health. It is subdivided into other indices such as Euro Stoxx 50 Subindex France, Euro Stoxx 50 Subindex Italy, and Euro Stoxx 50 subindex Spain covering its major economic powerhouse countries France, Italy and Spain respectively.
