In observance of Labor Day in the U.S., trading hours for select markets will be adjusted on Monday, September 7. Normal trading will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

The Story Behind Labor Day

Labor Day has been a US federal holiday since 1894, established to honor the American labor movement and the social and economic achievements of workers. Held annually on the first Monday of September, it traces back to the late 19th century, a period of significant industrial growth in the United States, when labor unions organized to advocate for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and safer conditions. Today, Labor Day marks both a tribute to the contributions of the American workforce and, informally, the symbolic end of summer in the US.

Important Reminder for Traders

• Review your open positions ahead of the early closures listed above, and adjust your stop-loss and take-profit levels where needed.
• US Shares will be fully closed for the day — no trading will be available on this instrument group.
• Early-closing instruments (Metals, Energies, and the listed Indices) will stop trading earlier than usual — plan your exits accordingly.
• Reduced liquidity and wider spreads can be expected on affected instruments in the hours leading up to their early close.
• Forex, Cryptos, and the unaffected Indices and Shares markets will continue to trade on their normal schedule.
