AI in MetaTrader 5: From Market Analysis to Strategy Testing

Discover how the MetaTrader 5 AI Assistant can help you analyse markets, review trades and test strategies, while keeping you in control.

·

MetaTrader 5 is introducing new ways to explore the markets. Its built-in AI Assistant lets you ask questions in everyday language and work with information available in the platform, from price movements to your trading history.

In its announcement on 20 October 2026, MetaQuotes showed how traders can use these capabilities for analysis, organising charts and testing trading strategies. Here is what matters when using the platform for your own trading.

A clearer view of the market

You can ask the assistant to examine an instrument across different timeframes, summarise its trend and volatility, or identify potential support and resistance levels. It can also review instruments in Market Watch to highlight notable price movements.

For example: “Compare EURUSD on H1 and H4 and explain the differences in trend and volatility.” Treat the response as a starting point for your own analysis, not as a recommendation to buy or sell.

Review your positions and trading history

The assistant can summarise your open positions, Buy and Sell volumes, current profit or loss and exposure to particular instruments. This may help you review how your positions fit together.

You can also ask it to break down historical results by instrument, trade direction, day of the week or holding time. Always check its figures against your account records; past results do not predict future performance.

Organise your trading workspace

Instead of repeating routine steps, you can describe the workspace you want. The assistant can open charts for selected instruments and timeframes, apply saved templates and organise Market Watch, where the available tools and permissions support these actions.

Start with a simple task and confirm that the result matches your request before moving to a more complex workflow.

Explore and test trading strategies

If you use Expert Advisors, the assistant can help coordinate tests in the Strategy Tester and compare reports across selected instruments, periods and settings. You can also specify an optimisation objective, such as prioritising lower drawdown over the highest historical profit.

Testing helps you explore how a strategy behaved under particular historical conditions. It does not guarantee future results. Costs, changing markets and overfitting can affect the outcome.

Keep control of every trading decision

MetaQuotes describes AI capabilities that can open, close and modify orders and positions when permitted. In the AI Assistant settings, you can prevent AI trading or require explicit confirmation.

Begin on a demo account, keep trading actions disabled initially or require confirmation, and check the instrument, direction, volume and risk settings before approving any order. AI can misunderstand instructions or produce incorrect conclusions.

Getting started with MT5

Use an updated, compatible desktop version of MetaTrader 5 and sign in to your MQL5.community account inside the platform. This is separate from your Traders Trust trading-account login. MetaQuotes states that the built-in assistant uses the free MQL5 Lite option by default; other AI services may have separate charges and limits.

Traders Trust offers MetaTrader 5. The AI features described by MetaQuotes depend on your desktop version, account access and settings; availability has not been verified for every Traders Trust installation. Do not assume the same features are available in MT5 mobile apps or WebTrader. If you cannot see the assistant, check the current platform help.

Important risk information

AI-generated information may be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for your circumstances. Verify outputs and actions independently and do not share passwords or sensitive personal information in a chat. This article is educational and is not financial, investment or trading advice.

CFDs are high-risk, leveraged instruments. Losses may exceed deposited funds. Historical performance and backtests are not reliable indicators of future results.

Is the MetaTrader 5 AI Assistant free?

MetaQuotes states that the default MQL5 Lite option is free for users signed in to MQL5.community. Other providers or models may have separate charges and limits.

Can AI place trades without my approval?

Trading actions depend on your permissions. The AI Assistant settings let you prevent AI trading or require confirmation. Review these settings before using it.

Does using AI guarantee better trading results?

No. AI can make mistakes, and a successful historical test does not guarantee future returns. You remain responsible for your trading decisions.
